Our work with law firms falls into a small number of closely related areas:

Management and profitability review

Akin to a "health check" for a law firm, where we undertake an independent, external review of the firm, meeting and talking to partners, staff, clients and professional contacts; and analysing performance. Such reviews can be invaluable in helping the partners focus on the key issues and tackle often difficult internal matters that might have been impossible for someone inside the firm to resolve.
Recent clients include a firm in Eastern England and a law centre in Scotland

Partner retreat facilitation

Once again, an extremely effective way of helping partners to identify key issues and discuss problem areas in a non-confrontational way.
Recent clients include firms in the Channel Islands and South East England

On-going support and advice on profitability

I am often asked, following an initial review of a firm to chair quarterly review meetings with the management team and the departments to review progress, assess financial performance, and set priorities for the coming quarter. Such on-going support can have a significant impact on growth and profitability
Clients include firms in the West Midlands and Yorkshire

Advice on partner issues

Partnerships can often be highly effective forms of business structure however they can also be problematic due to tensions between and differing objectives of the partners. Sometimes someone firm outside the firm can play an important role in mediating between the partners.
Recent clients include two firms in Yorkshire and a firm in Lisbon

Strategy and business development, reviews of management and operational structure

Few law schools provide training on management skills yet such skills are very important in today’s challenging environment. My role typically involves facilitating the development of a forward strategy and training the management team.
Recent clients include in-house training for a leading Lisbon firm and a firm in Eastern England

Merger facilitation

In recent months we have been working with a number of firms helping them identify merger possibilities, on occasion making the initial approach, and then working with them to develop an integration plan.
Recent clients have included firms in Ireland and the UK
